ENVIRONMENTAL LABELING OF PACKAGING

Waste Sorting Guidelines

As a result of the legislative decree, which can be found below, Marzocchi Pompe S.p.A. will adopt, where possible, the molding of the required label according to the graphics below for corrugated cardboard packaging:

If the structural characteristics of packaging or the related machinery, helpful in the production of the same, do not allow such graphic implementation, relative descriptions will be made to the material sorting, in the transport documents (Refer to the Chart: "Coding and Waste Sorting Packaging Guidelines ").

As of January 1, 2022, mandatory environmental labeling of packaging went into effect.

Below you can find a handy list of the most important things to know in order to properly comply with the requirements of the legislation:

PACKAGING SUBJECT TO THE OBLIGATION: All packaging released for consumption in the national territory is subject to the environmental labeling obligation

PACKAGING EXCLUDED FROM THE OBLIGATION: Packaging destined for other countries (which must be subject to the specific regulations of the country of destination) is excluded from the labeling obligation. Therefore, packaging destined for foreign countries will have to be accompanied by appropriate documentation certifying its destination, or by transport documents and/or data sheets showing composition information.

CODIFICATION ONDULATED CARDBOARD: The alphanumeric coding for corrugated cardboard is PAP 20

LABEL INFORMATION FOR PACKAGING INTENDED FOR B2B: Packaging intended for B2B must mandatorily include, for each manually separable component, the coding of composition materials in accordance with Decision 129/97/EC. All other information, including separate collection information, is voluntarily applicable.

LABEL INFORMATION PACKAGING DESTINED FOR B2C: Packaging destined for B2C must mandatorily present for each manually separable component the identification coding of the packaging material in accordance with Decision 129/97/EC and collection information.

PACKAGING WITH NON-MANUALLY SEPARABLE COMPONENTS: Packagings with a main body (e.g., the cardboard box) and other ancillary components that cannot be separated manually (e.g., the staple), must compulsorily show the material identification coding of the main body, and the collection indications (which follow the main body material).

PACKAGING WITH MANUALLY SEPARABLE COMPONENTS: If the packaging system provides for manually separable components from the main body, each of these must necessarily bear alphanumeric coding as per Decision 129/97/EC and collection information. Environmental labeling of the main body and the various manually separable components that make up the sales unit should be affixed to each component.

LABELLING COMPOSITE PACKAGING: For material identification, the prevailing C/material + number associated with the plastic, paper and steel pairing should be provided. Since Decision 129/97/EC does not provide for any numbering associated with this coupling, it is suggested that the numbering "86" be adopted, which is the first available numbering that does not identify any specific coupling and can therefore be adopted in these cases.

NEUTRAL PACKAGING: The standard does not exclude neutral packaging from the obligation. However given the critical issues encountered by operators, both economically and structurally in coping with the obligation, it has been decided that for these packagings the identification of the material of composition of the packaging the obligation is considered fulfilled if the mandatory information required by paragraph 5 of Article 219 of the TUA, is conveyed and communicated through external media (in the case of neutral packaging eg: DDT), or digital channels (such as App, QR code, bar code, etc.), and if it is not possible even through these tools, make it available through websites.

PACKAGING COMPOSED FROM COMBINED MATERIALS: paper-based composite packaging (and/or with components of different materials that cannot be separated manually) with the percentage of the cellulosic fraction between 60 and 95 percent of the total weight of the pack à Indicate to the consumer to give the packaging in separate collection for paper-based packaging while paper-based composite packaging (and/or with components of different materials that cannot be separated manually) with the percentage of the cellulosic fraction less than 60 percent of the total weight of the pack à Indicate to the consumer to give the packaging in undifferentiated collection.

GRAPHIC FORM OF THE LABEL: The standard requires that all packaging be appropriately labeled, then in the form and manner of graphics and presentation freely chosen, as long as they are effective and consistent with the objectives set forth in Art. 219, paragraph, 5. The standard does not provide specific directions regarding the graphics, colors and dimensions of the labeling.

ENVIRONMENTAL LABELING OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITY: The affixing of environmental labeling is a sharing activity between packaging supplier and user, which operators may find it necessary to regulate and formalize through agreements between the various parties involved.

STORAGE STOCKS: After January 1, 2022, it will be possible to market products without the new environmental labeling requirements that have already been placed on the market or already carry the label while stocks last.
